Directory History

The first printed directory was developed in 1975 under the leadership of Professor Harv Thompson of the UW-Madison Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts. The information, though constantly changing, served as an invaluable reference for educators and theatre professionals throughout the state and beyond.

The Web version now affords the opportunity to frequently update data, making it even more useful.

The Theatre Directory is dedicated to Professor Harv Thompson, whose tireless spirit, patient guidance, and enthusiastic commitment to nurturing and expanding the Arts in Wisconsin have inspired so many. His hard work and vision have truly made this resource possible.
